Ios (or Nios) is a small but beautiful and very special island of the Cyclades. Although it used to be a well-known destination for young people and an island of entertainment, now things have changed. Ios is considered one of the ten islands with the best beaches in the entire Mediterranean! And this is not unjust since it is decorated with more than 35 amazing beaches and coves with golden sand and clear blue waters. For this reason, it was chosen by many filmmakers such as "Le Grand Blue" filmed on Magganari beach and "Ginger and Cinnamon (Dillo con parole mie)" filmed on all the beautiful beaches and other picturesque locations of Ios.
Magganari beach
Manganari is not just a beach as it consists of four bays in a row. It is impressive as it is a very wide beach with golden sand while the waters are shallow with turquoise and turquoise and is rightly considered one of the most beautiful places for swimming in the entire Aegean. Santorini is directly opposite. It is organized in part with umbrellas and sunbeds and there are some taverns for lunch. It is an ideal beach for families and young children. Access is now easy from the new asphalt road, about half an hour from the country.
Mylopotas beach
Mylopotas, is the most popular and most touristic beach in Ios. The distance from Chora is short while next to it is the largest campsite on the island. It is an organized beach with umbrellas, sunbeds, beach bar and several shops. However, it is beautiful with golden sand and clear blue waters. The beach is large so there is plenty of free space while you can also do water sports and games.
Agia Theodoti beach
Η Αγία Θεοδότη, πήρε το όνομά της από το ομώνυμο εκκλησάκι που βρίσκεται στην περιοχή. Πρόκειται για μια όμορφη, βορινή παραλία, ήσυχη και οργανωμένη παραλία με καθαρά και βαθιά νερά. Μεγάλη αμμουδιά, όχι τόσο αμμουδερή αλλά με ψιλό βότσαλο σε ορισμένα της σημεία, ίσκιο από αρμυρίκια σε κάποια σημεία της και θέα στο απέραντο γαλάζιο και τη Σίκινο.
Three churches beach
Μια όμορφη παραλία δίπλα στο Μαγκανάρι η οποία αποτελεί την κατάλληλη επιλογή για παράτολμους ταξιδιώτες. Οι επισκέπτες πρέπει να κάνουν μια μικρή πεζοπορία σε φυσικά μονοπάτια για να φτάσουν στην παραλία όπου τα ελκυστικά καταγάλανα νερά της, σας καλωσορίζουν τον επισκέπτη για ένα απολαυστικό μπάνιο.
Papa beach
This beautiful cove is isolated from the crowds as it is hidden in the beautiful green landscape that is also a habitat. Thus to its few visitors it offers a refuge of peace and tranquility. The serene nature and the calm crystal clear waters welcome the bathers for a refreshing dip in the tranquility. Access is by sea only as access by land is closed by paddocks.
Kalamos beach
Next to Papa beach on the east coast of Ios is Kalamos, a large beach with golden sand and clear crystal clear waters. It is not organized and access is relatively difficult as you will have to cross a dirt road. On your way you will pass the Byzantine monastery of Agios Ioannis which is worth visiting. The beach has a very beautiful seabed that makes the area ideal for diving enthusiasts.
Gialos beach
The beach is to the left of the port. Shallow blue waters ideal for families. It has sunbeds and umbrellas, beach volley facilities and enough space for those who want to spread their towels. It has been distinguished with a blue flag!
Koubara beach
Koumbara Beach is a sandy beach near both Chora and the port. It is organized with sunbeds, beach bar and restaurants. When it blows it is probably not the best choice but it is the perfect place in Ios to enjoy the sunset.
Κολιτσάνι
The most private beach of the island as it is not frequented by many people. It is located in the south of Chora, it has clear blue waters and golden sand. It is not organized and access is by a path. The beach is a nudist hangout.
Sapounohoma
Η παραλία Σαπουνόχωμα είναι μια απόμερη παραλία με αμμουδερή ακτή και πεντακάθαρα νερά. Χαρακτηριστικό της γνώρισμα είναι ένα μεγάλος φοίνικας στο μέσο της κι ένα μικρό εκκλησάκι. Είναι προσβάσιμη μόνο μέσω θαλάσσης.
