Σύμβαση για την προμήθεια και εγκατάσταση τριών νέων μονάδων αφαλάτωσης στην Ίο υπέγραψαν ο Δήμαρχος Ιητών και ο Πρόεδρος της Watera Hellas ΑΒΕΕ.
According to a relevant announcement, the three seawater desalination units with the reverse osmosis technology, which have a total capacity of 1,080 cubic meters (m3) of drinking water per day, will allow to meet the ever-increasing water supply needs of the island. The contract was signed following an international public electronic tender in which Watera Hellas emerged as a contractor, while the financing of the supply will be made from the resources of the "Antonis Tritsis" program provided by the Municipality of Ieton.
"The goal of the Municipal Authority is the continuous upgrade of the basic infrastructure of our island in order to improve the living conditions of residents and visitors. The signing of the contract for the supply and installation of the three new desalination plants is another step in this direction. My dream is to have plenty of quality drinking water running from the tap of every house on our island soon.
On behalf of the Municipal Authority, we wish the project to be completed as soon as possible and we pledge that we will continue to work consistently to ensure the quality and adequacy of water throughout our island, "said the Mayor of Ieton, Mr. Gikas.
For his part, the President of Watera Hellas Mr. Mauritius noted that: "It is a great pleasure and honor for us to be given once again the opportunity to contribute to tackling the problem of lack of quality drinking water on an island in our homeland. The adequacy of quality drinking water that is not only an obvious right of the inhabitants of each island but also a basic condition for its further development.
It is also worth noting the fact that all the systems that our company has, both in our country and abroad, are designed and manufactured in Greece. "
It is noted that in 2010, Watera Hellas had supplied to the Municipality another desalination unit, with a capacity of 1,000 cubic meters (m3), per day that has been installed and operates in the area of the heliport. Watera has also supplied and installed in Ios a rapid filtration system for the filtration of the water of the reservoir located in Mylopota, near the place where the new desalination plants will be installed.
